Attaching a Catenary Wire to an Attachment Point

Attaching an existing catenary wire to an attachment point is simple. Just follow the steps below.

Steps for attaching an existing auxiliary wire to another structure can be found here.

Step 1: Navigate to the ‘Wires’ section of the Lineardraft toolbar

Step 2: Click the ‘Attach Wire’ button

Step 3: Click the wire you want to attach

Step 4: Click the attachment point to which you would like the wire to attach

You can alternatively click on the attachment point's corresponding structure box when in plan view to do this.
Once you have selected a wire and a structure, the 'Configure Wire' window will open.

Step 5: Configure wire point

Customise your wire point however you want.

The drop-down menus on the left-hand side are:

Track: Defines which track the catenary wire will be associated with, for multiple track structures such as TTCs or portals
Status: The current status of the wire point being placed
Support: Whether the wire point is supported and/or registered, an anchor, or an MPA
Span: The wire span type

Choose the running of the wire point:

In-running: The wire will be in contact with the pantograph
Out-of-running: The wire will not be in contact with the pantograph

The text boxes on the right-hand side adjust the following:

Messenger Wire: Height of the messenger wire in metres, relative to HRL
System Height: Distance between the messenger and contact wires
Contact Wire: Height of the contact wire in metres, relative to HRL
Stagger: The offset of the contact wire from the centre line of the track in metres

The 'Equipment' checkbox can be ticked to add catenary equipment. See: how to add equipment to an attachment point.

Step 6: Click 'Confirm'
