A structure can be copied using a marker, to the opposite side of the tracks, or multiple times using the 'Multi-copy' function.
Copy
The 'Copy' function is used to copy a single structure to a position identified by a marker or markers.
Step 1: Place a marker or markers
Place a circle to act as a marker for the position you would like to copy the structure to. If you are copying a portal you need to place two markers, one for each mast.
Step 2: Click the 'Copy' button in the 'Structures' section of the Lineardraft toolbar
This will open the structure selection window
Step 3: Ensure 'Copy' is selected from the drop-down menu
Step 4: Click the structure you want to copy
Alternatively, you can select your structure from the drop-down menu.
Step 5: Click your marker(s)
For portal structures, click both markers, one after the other. You'll see the tick next to 'Marker' go green once you have successfully selected your marker.
Step 6: Click the left rail
This should be the leftmost rail of the tracks you wish the structure to be associated with, when looking in the direction of increasing chainage. Again, you'll see the tick next to 'Left rail' go green once this has been done.
Step 7: Click the right rail
This should be the rightmost rail of the tracks you wish the structure to be associated with, when looking in the direction of increasing chainage. You'll see the tick next to 'Right rail' go green when this is done.
Step 8: Click 'Copy'
This will copy the structure and open the 'Edit Structure' window.
Step 9: Make any required changes to your structure
Give your structure a new name and update the distance value.
Please note, whenever a structure is copied, the foundation and mast bearings are reset to the default rotation of the structure type being copied.
Please note: When you copy a structure, if the secondary chainage/distance is being used, it won't be copied or updated automatically. This is because values for secondary chainages can vary case by case.
Step 10: Click 'Update Structure'
A loading screen will display while the changes are applied to your model. Once complete, the window will close.
Copy opposite
The 'Copy opposite' function is used to copy a single structure to the other side of a track or tracks that aligns with the original structure.
Please note: Only single-mast structures (single track cantilevers, two track cantilevers, twin/triple cantilevers, self supporting anchors, and attachment points) can be copied across track(s).
Step 1: Click the 'Copy' button in the 'Structures' section of the Lineardraft toolbar
This will open the 'Select Structure' window.
Step 2: Choose 'Copy Opposite' from the drop-down menu
Step 3: Click the structure you want to copy
Alternatively, you can select your structure from the drop-down in the ‘Select Structure’ window.
Step 4: Click the left rail
This should be the leftmost rail of the track you wish the structure to be associated with, when looking in the direction of increasing distance/chainage. Once complete the tick next to 'Left rail' will turn green.
Step 5: Click the right rail
This should be the rightmost rail of the track you wish the structure to be associated with, when looking in the direction of increasing chainage. Once complete the tick next to 'Right rail' will turn green.
Step 6: Click 'Copy'
This will open the 'Edit Structure' Window.
Step 7: Make any required changes to your structure
Complete the final part of the structure name and configure any other aspects of the structure you would like to be different from the original.
Step 8: Click 'Update Structure'
A loading screen will display while the changes are applied to your model. Once complete, the window will close.
Multi-copy
If you want to make one or more copies of a structure to be placed at set intervals along the track, optionally including any attached wires and equipment, you can use the 'Multi-copy' function.
Please note: Only single-mast structures (single track cantilevers, two track cantilevers, twin/triple cantilevers, self supporting anchors, and attachment points) can be multi-copied currently.
Step 1: Click the 'Copy' button in the 'Structures' section of the Lineardraft toolbar
This will open the 'Select Structure' window.
Step 2: Choose 'Multi-Copy' from the drop-down menu
Step 3: Click on the structure you want to copy
Alternatively, you can choose the structure from the 'Selected structure' drop-down menu.
Step 4: Enter the number of copies you'd like to make in 'Count'
You can type directly in the box or use the up/down arrows. You'll see pink preview markers for the positions of these proposed copies.
Step 5: Select the 'Name increment' for your copies
For example if your original structure is named 'DD-11-11' and you set a name increment of 2, your copied structures will be named 'DD-11-13', 'DD-11-15', 'DD-11-17' etc.
Step 6: Enter the distance you'd like between structures in 'Distance along rail'
Measured in metres, inputting 50 will place your structures 50 m apart from one another. Preview markers (shown below in pink) will appear illustrating where your copies will be placed.
Top tip: A positive 'Distance Along Rail' value will place the structures in the direction of increasing chainage, while a negative value will place them in the direction of decreasing chainage.
Step 7: Select the properties and equipment you would like applying to your copies
Foundation Height: If' Relative' is enabled, this will maintain the relative foundation height in line with HRL
Copy Wires: When enabled, any wires attached to the structure you're copying will be attached to the copied structures.
Alternate staggers: When enabled, the stagger direction will alternate between structures.
Copy Equipment: When enabled, any equipment attached to the structure you're copying will also be copied.
Alternate Push/Pull: When enabled, the 'Push / Pull' setting for wire supports will alternate between structures.
Step 8: Select a secondary structure to copy
If desired, you can select an additional structure from an adjacent track to copy at the same time. Check the 'Secondary structure' box and either choose your structure from the drop-down or use the locate button and click directly on the structure you'd like to copy.
Step 9: Click 'Copy'
A loading screen will display while the changes are applied to your model. Once complete, the window will close.
