Copying Wires & Equipment to Structures

To speed up the design process, Lineardraft lets you copy wires and their equipment from one structure to another.

Please ensure that the equipment you are copying is compatible with the destination structure; otherwise it won't copy.

Step 1: Click the 'Copy' button in the 'Wires' section of the Lineardraft toolbar

This will open the 'Copy Wires' window.

Step 2: Select a 'Source structure'

This is the structure from which you would like to copy the wires. You can do this by clicking directly on the structure or choosing the structure from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Check the boxes of the wires you would like to copy

Step 4: Choose if you would like to copy the equipment for each wire

Enabling the 'Equipment' toggles next to each wire will indicate you want to copy the equipment.

Step 5: Select a 'Destination structure' or structures

This defines the structure or structures you would like the wires and any selected equipment to be copied to. You can do this by using the locate button and clicking directly on the structures, or by selecting your structures from the drop-down menu.

You can add multiple structures for your wires to be copied to.

Step 6: Review feedback

If a wire and its equipment can be successfully copied over, you'll see a green tick. If there is an error (typically meaning a wire cannot be copied) you'll see a red circle icon, whilst a yellow triangle indicates a warning. Hover over these icons for further details about the issue.

Uncheck any equipment and/or wires with errors or make the required changes to proceed.

More info: For full details on the different types of error, warning, and possible solutions, see the troubleshooting article here.

Step 7: Click 'Copy'

This will close the window and copy your wires and any selected equipment to your structure(s).
