Edit Structure Window: Ties/Struts

The 'Ties/Struts' tab, within the 'Edit Structure' window, allows you to add, edit and delete backties and struts attached to a structure. The article below outlines the functionality of the 'Ties/Struts' tab. If you would like to follow the full process for adding a backtie, please see the linked article.

  1. Left mast/Right mast: Depending on the structure type of the structure selected, the window will be divided vertically so you can add your backties to each respective mast.
  2. Add: Allows you to add a backtie to the structure and opens up the 'Edit Backtie' dialog to start configuration.
  3. Delete all: Will remove all ties and struts attached to the structure.
  4. Delete: Allows you to remove individual ties and struts from the structure.

'Edit Backtie' Dialog

  1. Type: This drop-down menu allows you to choose from a list of backties that are allocable with the mast you have chosen.
  2. Style: When the adjacent toggle is enabled, this drop-down allows you to choose an alternative backtie style to the default. The default backtie style is defined by the backtie length. Learn more here.
  3. Height: Defines the height of the backtie connection on the structure, relative to HRL.
  4. Dynamic position [Enabled]: When enabled, the backtie will be placed in-line with the structure parallel to the track. Only 'Distance' will need to be configured.
  5. Distance: Allows you to set the distance the backtie will be positioned away from the structure. Using the invert button or setting the distance as a negative number will position the backtie in the opposite direction. A positive value will place the backtie in the direction of increasing chainage, a negative will place in the direction of decreasing chainage.
  6. Dynamic position [Disabled]: When disabled, the position of the backtie will need to be fully configured using X and Y co-ordinates, and the bearing.
  7. X: Allows you to set the X co-ordinate for the backtie.
  8. Y: Allows you to set the Y co-ordinate for the backtie.
  9. Bearing: Allows you to set the bearing of the backtie, measured clockwise in degrees from North (0°).
  10. Foundation: This drop-down menu allows you to choose from a list of foundations that are allocable with your backtie.
  11. Top: This value defines the top surface of the foundation, relative to sea level. The reset button can be used to return this value to HRL.
  12. Length: Defines the vertical length of the foundation. Top of foundation height will remain constant and the bottom of the foundation will move as the length is altered.
  13. Baseplate: Allows you to choose from a list of allocable baseplates to use with the selected backtie foundation.
