Adding Equipment to a Structure

Equipment is used to support a wire on a structure.  In Lineardraft, you can add equipment when first creating the wire, when attaching a wire to a structure, or by editing an existing wire point. This process is slightly different depending on whether you're attaching the equipment to a mast or a gantry, which is detailed below.

More info: If you'd like to add an anchor to a structure or an MPA to a gantry or mast, please follow the links for full instructions.

Step 1: Click the 'Edit' button in the 'Structures' section of the Lineardraft toolbar

This will open the structure selection window.

Step 2: Click on the structure you want to attach equipment to and click 'Edit'

Alternatively, you can select your structure from the drop-down menu. Clicking 'Edit' will open the 'Edit Structure' window.

Step 3: Open the 'Wires' tab

Step 4: Click on the wire for which you would like to add equipment

This will open the 'Edit Wire' dialog.

More info: You can also access the 'Edit Wire' dialog from the 'Edit' button in the 'Wires' section of the Lineardraft Toolbar.

Step 5: Enable the 'Equipment' toggle

Enabling this toggle will expand the 'Edit wire' dialog, allowing you to attach equipment to the structure.

Step 6: Click 'Mast' so it is highlighted in the equipment editor

If the wire is attached to a portal you will be able to choose which mast to attach the equipment to.

Top tip: The mast sub menu will allow you to adjust reach, mast length, RECOS & REFOS as necessary if not suitable for your requirements

Step 7: Click 'Add Bracket'

The bracket sub menu will display on the right-hand side of the dialog. You can alternatively select an existing bracket from the equipment editor.

Step 8: Configure bracket

Select a bracket style from the drop-down menu and review the 'Location' and 'Rotation'. Learn more about bracket locations here

If you're adding an auxiliary wire equipment you will also need to select 'Left' or 'Right' from the radio buttons, this will move the equipment to the corresponding side of the mast. Depending on the bracket you have selected this option may not be visible, as its placement is defined by the 'Rotation' setting.

Step 9: Select a bracket 'Slot'

Your bracket choice may only have one available slot, if so click on the option available to you.

Top tip: Hovering your cursor over the 'i' symbol next to 'Type' will bring up a wire support helper tooltip, suggesting adjustments you could make which would allow you to use different wire supports.

Step 10: Configure equipment

Using the drop-down menus, select the wire support and wire support style you would like to allocate.

Step 11(Optional): Click 'Customise' to customise the wire support style parameters

The parameters available for customisation are dependent on the chosen wire support style. If the drop-down is not clickable, this means your chosen wire support style does not have editable parameters.

Top Tip: You can reset your wire support style parameters to default by clicking 'Reset all' or by clicking the individual reset buttons next to each individual configuration option.

Step 12: Click 'Apply'

This will close the 'Edit Wire' dialog.

Step 13: Click 'Update Structure'/ 'Update Wire'

This will close your window and apply your changes to your model.
