To place a mid-point anchor (MPA) on a mast, follow these steps. Please note, these instructions require you to have first placed a mast, created a catenary wire and an auxiliary wire, and attached them to the mast.
This process may vary slightly depending on the equipment and design catalogue being used.
Please note: Before continuing, ensure your auxiliary wire is an appropriate type for this scenario and catalogue being used (e.g. 'MPA Tie'). This article does not cover anchoring your tie wire - please see this article about placing an anchor.
Step 1: Click the 'Edit' button in the 'Structures' section of the Lineardraft toolbar
This will open the structure selection window.
Step 2: Click on the structure you want to add the MPA to and click 'Edit'
Alternatively, you can select your structure from the drop-down menu. Clicking 'Edit' will open the 'Edit Structure' window.
Step 3: Click on the 'Wires' tab
Here you should see your attached catenary and auxiliary wires. If not, you need to attach them to your structure.
Step 4: Click the catenary wire that will be used with the MPA wire
This will open the 'Edit Wire' dialog.
Step 5: Change the support type to 'MPA'
Step 6: Enable the 'Equipment' toggle
This will expand the 'Edit Wire' dialog.
Step 7: Click on the 'Mast' followed by the 'Add bracket' button
Alternatively you can click on the 'Add bracket' button next to the chosen mast. This will add a bracket to the equipment pathway, along with the number of wire support slots defined by the bracket.
Step 8: Review and select the bracket 'Type' required
Changing brackets may alter the number of available wire support slots.
Step 9: Click a wire support slot, then select the wire support 'Type' and 'Style' you require
You can edit any applicable wire support style parameters by clicking the 'Customisation' drop-down.
Please note: If no wire supports are available upon clicking a wire support slot, you may need to adjust your reach in the 'Mast' sub-menu of the 'Edit Wire' dialog, or your system height using the box in the top section of the dialog.
Step 10: Click 'Apply' and then 'Update Structure'
This will close the 'Edit Wire' dialog, followed by the 'Edit Structure' window respectively, and confirm your selections.
Step 11: Access the 'Wires' tab in the 'Edit Structure' window for your MPA structure (repeat steps 1-3)
Here you should once again see your attached catenary and auxiliary wires.
Step 12: Click the auxiliary wire being used as the tie wire
This will open the 'Edit Wire' dialog.
Step 13: Position the auxiliary wire accordingly using 'Height' and 'Offset'
You can either type values in the boxes or use the up and down arrows. The preview will show the proposed position of your wire as you adjust it.
Step 14: Click 'Apply' and then 'Update Structure'
This will close the 'Edit Wire' dialog, then close the 'Edit Structure' window and confirm your selections.
Please note: Some MPA arrangements contain components that need to be added as in-span equipment. Find out how to add in-span equipment here.
