Move Structure Window

The ‘Move Structure’ window, accessed via the 'Move' button in the 'Structures' section of the Lineardraft toolbar, allows you to move structures using one of three methods:

  • 'Move' - move a single structure to a location defined by a marker
  • 'Multi-move' - move multiple structures along track
  • 'Move to co-ordinates' - move multiple structures to locations defined by co-ordinates

The article below outlines the functionality of the ‘Move Structure’ window. If you would like to follow the full process for moving structures, please see the linked article.

Function: Allows you to select one of the move methods; 'Move', 'Multi-move', or 'Move to co-ordinates'

Move

  1. Structure: Allows you to select a structure to move from the drop-down menu. Alternatively you can press the 'Locate' button next to the drop-down and click directly on the structure.
  2. Centre view on structure: Centres the active view around your selected structure.
  3. Marker: Denotes if you have selected a marker, which defines where your structure will be moved to, with a tick or cross. Click the 'Locate' button to select a marker. If a portal structure is selected there will be two 'Marker' entries.
  4. Left rail: Denotes if you have selected the leftmost rail your moved structure will be associated with. Click the 'Locate' button to select a left rail.
  5. Rail rail: Denotes if you have selected the rightmost rail your moved structure will be associated with. Click the 'Locate' button to select a right rail.

Multi-move

  1. Structure: Allows you to select a structure to move from the drop-down menu. Add to the structure list by clicking the blue '+' button. Alternatively you can press the 'Locate' button next to the drop-down and click directly on the structure.
  2. Structure list: Shows all the structures selected to be moved.
  3. Centre view on structure: Centres the active view around the corresponding structure.
  4. Remove: Removes the corresponding structure from the list of structures to be moved.
  5. Move status: Displays either a tick or a warning symbol depending on whether the corresponding structure can be moved or not. Learn about what happens when structures can't be moved using multi-move here, and how to get around it here.
  6. Distance along rail: Allows you to define the distance in metres along track you wish to move the selected structures.

Move to co-ordinates

  1. Select a file of co-ordinates: Click the 'Browse' button to select a .csv file with your structure location data. To see how this spreadsheet should be formatted, please see this article.
  2. Tolerances: When matching up structures in your design with the co-ordinates, 'Tolerances' allows you to define a 'Minimum' and 'Maximum' distance your existing structures can be from your location data.
  3. Errors/Warnings/Valid: These buttons filter the structure list. 'Error' shows only portal structures that cannot be moved, 'Warnings' shows structures that haven't been matched, whilst 'Valid' shows matched structures. If no filters are selected, all structures are shown.
  4. Structure list: Shows all the imported co-ordinates and if they have been matched with structures in your design. Entries with a green tick next to them have been matched, a yellow warning symbol denotes they haven't been matched, whilst a red warning symbol denotes a portal structure that cannot be moved using this method (examples below).
