Can't Copy Wires

If you're having trouble copying a wire, you will find an error message in the 'Copy Wires' window indicating the cause of the problem. You can access the message by hovering over any of the warning symbols in the window, like below.

Below are all possible error messages associated with copying wires, their meaning, and possible solutions.

This wire is already attached to the structure

You cannot copy a wire to a structure if it's already attached to it.

There was an issue getting the wire point for the origin structure

An internal error is stopping the process from completing.

Try restarting MicroStation. If the issue persists, try rebuilding the original structure.

There was an issue getting the wires on the origin structure

This happens either because there are no wires attached to the origin structure or due to an internal error.

If there are wires attached to the structure, try restarting MicroStation. If this doesn't work, try rebuilding the origin structure.

The wires can be attached to the structure, however the equipment cannot be copied

The equipment and the destination structure are incompatible. In this case, the wires will be attached to the destination structure, but the equipment won't be copied.

There was an issue getting the wire support for the origin structure

An internal error is stopping the process from completing.

Try rebuilding the destination structure.

Could not begin processing the origin structure

An internal error is stopping the process from completing.

Try restarting MicroStation.

There was an issue finding the structures to process

An internal error is stopping the process from completing.

Try restarting MicroStation. If this doesn't work, try rebuilding the destination structure.

Could not process the equipment on the origin structure

An internal error is stopping the process from completing.

Try rebuilding the destination structure.

The wire could not be attached to the structure

This happens either when the wire cannot be attached to the destination structure from an engineering perspective, or as a result of an internal error.

Check first that the wire can be attached to the destination structure (for example, that it is the correct structure type).

If it isn't an engineering issue, try rebuilding both structures.

There was an issue getting the origin structure to process

An internal error is stopping the process from completing.

Try restarting MicroStation.

The process was cancelled

This can happen when you change options within the 'Copy Wire' window and Lineardraft takes longer than usual processing those changes. This will resolve on its own when Lineardraft finishes processing. If it's taking too long you can interrupt the process by changing any of the options in the window.
