Splitting a Wire

Follow the steps below to split either a catenary wire or an auxiliary wire into two new separate wires.

Step 1: Navigate to the ‘Wires’ section of the Lineardraft toolbar

Step 2: Click on the ‘Split Wires’ button

Step 3: Click on the wire you want to split

This can be done in 3D or plan view. The selected wire must be attached to more than one structure.

Top tip: Select a stagger symbol instead of a wire to skip Step 4. This will split your wire at the stagger symbol's associated structure.

Step 4: Click on a structure - this is where the wire is split

This can be done in 3D or plan view. Once selected, the 'Configure New Wire System' window will open. The selected structure must not be the last structure in the wire run.

Step 5: Name your newly split wire and click ‘Confirm’

This wire will begin at the next structure along in the direction of increasing chainage. The name of the wire at the lower chainage will remain the same.

Your wire will now be split between the structure you selected and the next structure along in the direction of increasing chainage.
