The below list of FAQs applies to version 2025.9.5641.1 of the Elevation Module. As we are within the pilot programme phase, these FAQs are subject to change as we act on feedback from participants.
The Lineardraft splash screen will state clearly 'Elevation Module: Pilot Programme' when you initially load Lineardraft. It will also clearly state 'Elevation Module-Pilot Programme' in the 'About' window.
To avoid having to republish all project settings, construction lines are created on their own level 'dimension_lines'. To request a change to this, please submit a feedback form.
Construction lines are integral to the way the Elevation Module creates persistent dimensions. Having these construction lines allows the dimensions to be associated to a particular aspect of your structure, meaning when these are updated, your drawn dimensions are also automatically updated.
The visuals for construction lines can be turned off by deselecting 'Constructions' in 'View Attributes' in MicroStation. Alternatively, you can turn off the level in the levels manager.
Not currently. There are limitations within MicroStation that are preventing development of this feature at present. We are in frequent communication with Bentley to resolve this, once this has been resolved, we will endeavour to incorporate automated text data into the module. Manual creation of text data using the construction lines is possible using native MicroStation functionality.
Not currently. We recommend setting up a seed file and using that for your workflow to create sheets.
Not currently. We will assess the need for this as we receive feedback.
If the structure or equipment has been deleted since you created your drawings, this may lead to your dimensions being disassociated as the structure or equipment they were attached to, no longer exists.
Lineardraft only creates new dimensions when the 'Draw' button is clicked in the 'Create Elevation' window. Therefore, it makes sense to only dimension once the structure is complete.
Yes. By associating your dimensions to existing construction lines they will automatically update when you update the structure or equipment. You can do this in the 'Element Dimensioning' window in MicroStation and is best to do this with all levels turned off except construction lines for clarity.
Yes. Once dimensions have been created, these can then be edited or changed in MicroStation using the Dimension Styles Editor. This change will then cascade through the model.
Dimension/text styles need to be available directly in the file to be usable, not just in the DGN library.
