Can't Import Lineardraft Design

In some circumstances, you may receive a red or yellow message in the ‘Import Lineardraft Design’ window giving feedback on why your import may have failed. Find out what they mean below.

No active project settings defined

If you’re trying to import a Lineardraft design into a blank model, you’ll need to make sure you have chosen your active project settings first. To choose your active project settings, click 'Open settings' or follow the instructions linked here.

The selected design clashes with data already in the file

Objects in your model cannot use the same object IDs as objects in your .ld file. Since object IDs are not editable, you will need to remove the objects from either the model or the .ld file, before reimporting your .ld file.

Objects typically include wires, wire supports, structures, in-span equipment, and span & versine annotations

Please note: If you remove objects from your .ld file, you will need to re-export the file before importing it into your model.

The selected file is not a valid Lineardraft design

Only .ld files exported from Lineardraft can be imported into your design. Please check your design file is in the correct format.

The LD model requires a later version of Lineardraft

The .ld file and the model it's being imported into must both have been created using the same version of Lineardraft. If your model uses an earlier version of Lineardraft, please update Lineardraft Core before reopening the model and reimporting your .ld file.

Additional catalogues are required

Your model must use the same or a later version of design catalogues as those used in your .ld file. Download the latest version of your necessary design catalogues or activate catalogues by clicking 'Open settings'  before reopening the model and reimporting your .ld file.
