Overriding Wire Lengths Explained

A wire length can be overridden in the 'Settings' tab of the 'Edit Wire' window. This can only be done if the wire is not 'fully defined'. For full details on how to override wire lengths, please visit this article.

Term
Definition
Can it be overridden?
Fully Defined Has an anchor at both ends No
Partially Defined Has an anchor at one end Yes, both delta and fixed values
Undefined Has no anchors Yes, fixed value only

The images below demonstrate the different wire length scenarios and if they can be manually overridden.

Scenario 1: Both the lower length and higher length are fully defined so neither will be able to be overridden.

Scenario 2: The lower length is fully defined so can't be overridden. The higher length is partially defined so can be overridden using either the delta or fixed values.

Scenario 3: The higher length is fully defined so can't be overridden. The lower length is partially defined so can be overridden using either the delta or fixed values.

Scenario 4: The lower length is fully defined therefore cannot be overridden. There is no higher length in this scenario as there is no mid point anchor.

Scenario 5: The lower length is partially defined so can be overridden using either the delta or fixed values. The higher length is undefined so can only be overridden using the fixed value.

Scenario 6: The lower length is undefined so can be overridden using the fixed value only. The higher length is partially defined so can be overridden using the delta or fixed values.

Scenario 7: Both the lower and higher lengths are partially defined so can be overridden using either the delta or fixed values.

Scenario 8: Both the lower and higher lengths are undefined so can only be overridden using the fixed value.
