The 'Edit Structure' window will open by default on the 'Steelwork' tab where you can configure your masts, gantries, foundations, adapter plates, and attachment points. The article below outlines the functionality of the 'Steelwork' tab.
If you would like to follow the full process of placing a structure or editing a structure please see the linked articles.
For structures with at least one mast, the 'Steelwork' tab contains the following main sections:
- Type
- Gantry
- Masts
- Adapter plates
- Foundations
There is also a section specifically for attachment points.
Structure Type
- Structure Type: Type allows you to choose what type of structure you'd like to place or change your current structure to. You can choose from a list of applicable structure types including STCs, TTCs, portals, attachment points etc.
- Configurator: Used when editing the steelwork of a structure that has equipment, backties, or ornaments attached, allowing you to make the required changes without having to remove your attached items.
More info: For more information on the steelwork configurator, please see here.
Gantry
Gantry configuration will only be visible in the window if your structure has a gantry, for example a portal or TTC.
- Height: Defines the height of the underside of the gantry above HRL; adjusting this will automatically adjust the length of the supporting mast or masts.
- Type: Allows you to choose from a list of applicable gantries available in a drop-down menu. If you already have equipment attached to your structure, clicking on this will open the 'Steelwork Configurator' dialog.
- Length: Defines the length of the gantry which can be adjusted by overtyping or using the up/down arrows.
Masts
Mast configuration will display differently if you are dealing with a single-mast structure or a structure with two masts. However, the configuration options for each mast will be the same regardless.
- Label: Allows you to apply a label to differentiate between structure supports when attaching equipment, editing a structure, or reading a structure details report. Typically labelled differently depending on whether the support is located to the left or right of their associated track when viewing in the direction of increasing chainage.
- Type: Allows you to choose from a list of applicable masts available in a drop-down menu. If you already have equipment attached to your structure, clicking on this will open the 'Steelwork Configurator' dialog.
- Length: Allows you to configure the length of your mast by either overtyping in the box or using the up/down arrows to increase or decrease the length by allocable increments.
- Bearing: Allows you to adjust the rotation of the mast by overtyping in the box, or using the up/down arrows to increase or decrease the rotation, measured clockwise from North (0°). Using the 'Reset' button will return the bearing to the default value. For further information on adjusting a mast's bearing please click the link.
- RECOS: RECOS allows to you adjust the distance between the centre of a mast and the running edge of the closest rail, of the closest associated track. Changing the mast type will not affect the RECOS.
- REFOS: REFOS allows you to adjust the distance between the face of a mast and the running edge of the closest rail, of the closest associated track. Changing the mast type will affect the REFOS.
Adapter Plates
- Type: If an adapter plate is required between your mast and foundation, this allows you to choose from a drop-down menu of applicable adapter plates.
- Gap: Allows you to configure the distance between the top of the adapter plate and the base of the mast, by overtyping in the box or using the up/down arrows to increase or decrease the distance by allocable increments.
Foundations
- Type: Allows you to choose from a drop-down menu of applicable foundations for the mast you have selected.
- Top: This allows you to adjust the height above (or below) sea level of the top surface of the foundation, by either overtyping or adjusting using the up/down arrows.
- Gap: Allows you to configure the distance between the top of the foundation and the base of the mast (or base of adapter plate if one is being used), by overtyping in the box or using the up/down arrows to increase or decrease the distance by allocable increments.
- Bearing: Allows you to adjust the rotation of the bearing by overtyping in the box, or using the up/down arrows to increase or decrease the rotation, measured clockwise from North (0°). For further information on adjusting the foundation bearing please click the link.
- Length: Allows you to adjust the length of the foundation by either overtyping in the box or using the up/down arrows to increase or decrease the length by allocable increments.
Attachment Point
- Label: Allows you to apply a label to differentiate between structure supports when attaching equipment, editing a structure, or reading a structure details report. Typically labelled differently depending on whether they are located to the left or right of their associated track, when viewing in the direction of increasing chainage.
- Bearing: Defines the orientation of the attachment point measured clockwise, in degrees from North (0°).
- Height: Defines the height at which you would like the attachment point to be placed relative to HRL.
- Relative Height: Height of the attachment point in metres, relative to the top of foundation.
- RECOS: Defines the distance between the centre of the attachment point and the running edge of the closest rail, of the closest associated track.
- Type: Allows you to choose between, 'Wall', 'Soffit', and 'None' to distinguish between the type of attachment point you are placing or editing.
