Creating a Catenary Wire
To create a catenary wire, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Click the 'New' button in the 'Wires' section of the Lineardraft toolbar
This will open the 'Edit Wire' window.
Step 2: Ensure 'Catenary System' is selected in the drop-down menu on the left
Step 3: Choose a wire type from the central drop-down menu
The catenary systems you have available will be dependent on the design catalogues you have installed.
Step 4: Name your wire in the 'Wire name' box
Step 5: Click 'Attach' to attach your wire to a structure
This will open the attach wire dialog.
Step 6: Select a structure to attach your wire to and click 'Attach'
Select the structure from the drop-down menu. Alternatively, click 'Locate', then click on the required structure in either 3D or plan view. Clicking 'Attach' will open the 'Edit wire' dialog.
Step 7: Configure wire point
Customise your wire point however you want.
Support Type: Whether the wire point is supported and/or registered, an anchor, or an MPA - more on support types here. Track: Defines which track the catenary wire will be associated with, for multiple track structures such as TTCs or portals
MW (Messenger Wire): Height of the messenger wire in metres, relative to HRL.
SH (System Height): Distance between the messenger and contact wires
CW (Contact Wire): Height of the contact wire in metres, relative to HRL.
Stagger: The offset of the contact wire from the centre line of the track in metres.
In-running: When enabled indicates the wire is 'In-running' The wire will be in contact with the pantograph. When disabled indicates the wire is 'Out-of-running', the wire will not be in contact with the pantograph.

Step 8: Click 'Apply'
This will close the 'Edit Wire' dialog and return you to the 'Edit Wire' window.
Step 9: Click 'Update Wire'
This will save your wire to your model and close the window.

Creating an Auxiliary Wire
To create an auxiliary wire follow the steps below.
Step 1: Click the 'New' button in the 'Wires' section of the Lineardraft toolbar
This will open the 'Edit Wire' window.
Step 2: Choose 'Auxiliary System' from the drop-down menu on the left
Step 3: Choose a wire type from the central drop-down menu
The auxiliary systems you have available will be dependent on the design catalogues you have installed.
Step 4: Name your wire in the 'Wire name' box
Step 5: Click 'Attach' to attach your wire to a structure
This will open the attach wire dialog.
Step 6: Select a structure to attach your wire to and click 'Attach'
Select the structure from the drop-down menu. Alternatively, click 'Locate', then click on the required structure in either 3D or plan view. Clicking 'Attach' will open the 'Edit wire' dialog.
Step 7: Configure wire point
Customise your wire point however you want.
Support: Select which mast the wire is attached to if attaching to a portal.
Reference track for height of wire: Choose between the associated tracks or high rail level.
Height: The height of the auxiliary wire.
Offset: The horizontal distance from the centre of the mast.
Anchor: This toggle can be enabled when you want to anchor the wire to the structure.
Equipment: This toggle can be enabled to add auxiliary equipment. Learn more here.
Step 8: Click 'Apply'
This will close the 'Edit Wire' dialog and return to the 'Edit Wire' window
Step 9: Click 'Update Wire'
This will close the window and save your new wire to your model.
